Christmas Jiangxiang Bing Party - Santa on the Griddle

Season finale. Ten weeks ago we asked for a week's flour; this Saturday we close the Griddle season with the sweetest plate of the year: the Christmas Jiangxiang Bing Party. The cart wears lights, Mr Tang wears the hat (reluctantly, tradition demands it), and the whole route is invited - regulars, volunteers, shelter residents, and the families who found their feet this year and always come back to the corner where it started. The Christmas plate is the kitchen's one luxury menu of the year: a thick jiangxiang bing with sugar and cinnamon, a candy-cane, a clementine and a hot chocolate - plus, for every child on the route, a wrapped present from the volunteer gift mountain. Each £5 entry funds three party plates; the season's final target also covers the gift mountain's last fifteen parcels. At the session we count the whole season together on camera: the plates, the bags, the blankets, the packs, the suppers - every number the season's entries made real, read out over the noise of the griddle. Then we hand the last plate of 2026 to the person who has been first in the queue since week one. Then we start planning January's flour. Because Monday morning, he lights the griddle again.
